430 pilgrims who departed from Kotoka International Airport yesterday arrived at Madina International Airport safely and are now traveling to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The group of pilgrims is the first batch to arrive from the southern sector; the northern batch had already concluded when 2,150 people were airlifted.

Under normal circumstances, Accra would see the five flights of pilgrims from Accra, Kumasi, and the neighboring places.

Females exceed males in the number anticipated to be airlifted for the 2023 Hajj, as it has in prior years.

The 430 pilgrims will be performing religious rites among their countrymen in Saudi Arabia for a month.

One of the five pillars of Islam is the annual Hajj, however unlike the other four, the journey depends on the devout’s eligibility.

Ben Abdallah Banda, the chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board, and other board members were present on board the aircraft to tell the pilgrims farewell.

The pilgrims’ planned spiritual practice will be blessed by Allah, the chairman prayed.

He assured them that the Ghana Hajj Board has taken all necessary preparations to guarantee a trouble-free pilgrimage.

Many people have voiced the expectation that Accra will experience an airlift as successful as the one that welcomed the Tamale operations.

There are indications that this will happen; the efficient airlift from yesterday is one such indication.

This year, Ghana has a quota of 6,000 pilgrims, and the Ghana Hajj Board has guaranteed aspiring pilgrims that everyone who have satisfied their financial obligations will unquestionably be flown.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary had requested everyone’s cooperation while expressing satisfaction with the progress made so far in the airlift of Ghanaian pilgrims.

The next flight is scheduled to depart today, followed by another the following day, and so on until the entire number of people performing the Hajj this year has been utilized.
