On Saturday, June 17, 2023, a man allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend in Trom, Koforidua, in the Eastern Region’s New Juaben South Municipality.
He did it while the naming ceremony was happening. The lady had welcomed him like a visitor and had shown him to her room in the compound house.
Co-tenants of the victim claimed the perpetrator choked her before slicing her neck. Her calls for aid were silenced by the loud ceremony.
The suspect dropped the weapon and ran from the scene, but later that evening he handed himself in to the police. The next day, wearing a t-shirt with the words “rest in peace,” he took the police to the crime scene.
After determining that an angry mob might lynch him, the police were forced to take him away.
The deceased’s co-tenants claimed that she moved from Koforidua Betom to the area after the man threatened to murder her when she ended her relationship with him a year ago.
