A planned robbery attack was stopped by a joint police operation, which also resulted in the confiscation of weapons thought to be connected to a well-known robbery ring that operates throughout the nation.
Ali Mohammed, a 23-year-old wanted robbery suspect, was the focus of the operation, which was conducted by the Ashanti North Regional Police Command and the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Department.
The suspect was wanted by the police in relation to Dominic Frimpong’s shooting and death on April 12, 2026, on the Akyiresu to Kwame Dwomo Sreso road in the Ahafo Region.
Additionally, he was wanted for two distinct robberies at Bosomkyekye on the Mampong to Ejura road in July 2025 and February 2026, one of which killed a driver’s mate.
On June 2, 2026, a police squad conducted an operation to capture the culprit after tracking him to Kukuom in the Ahafo Region based on intelligence.
According to the police, Ali Mohammed attempted to resist arrest by firing an AK-47 weapon as soon as he saw the cops.
But during the fight, he was overwhelmed and was shot.
After that, he was sent to the Goaso Government Hospital for treatment, but upon arrival, he was declared dead.
One AK-47 rifle, one pump action gun, two AK-47 magazines, and nine rounds of ammunition were recovered as a result of the operation.
Three cell phones, a motorcycle ignition key, a black nose mask, four talismans, and a sack were among the other items found.
The recovered guns and equipment, according to the police, are thought to have been used in the robbery syndicate’s operations.
To find and capture additional gang members, investigations are still underway.
Omar Chad, Dauda Tahidu, and Suley are among the wanted suspects identified by the police; they are presently at large.
They reassured the public that further efforts were being made to apprehend and prosecute every member of the syndicate.
The operation is a component of the Ghana Police Service’s continuous efforts to reduce violent crimes and enhance community and major highway security throughout the nation.
