Stephen Blewett, the CEO of MTN Ghana, has called the company’s recent victory as the MTN Group 2025 Million Dollar Challenge’s overall winner a “massive acknowledgement” of the team’s work and dedication to clients.

Speaking during the inaugural MTN Bright Conversation, Stephen Blewett stated that the award, which was given out at the MTN Global Leadership Gathering 2026, honours exceptional execution in every business sector.

“It’s always very pleasing to be the CEO of a very successful organisation. But the reality of the success of MTN Ghana is the engaged and passionate people we have here,” he said.

The accomplishment, he said, was wide-ranging.

“It’s the first time in my career that I’ve actually sat back at the end of the year and said, I can’t think of a single department that hasn’t done well. That’s unusual,” he said, pointing to impressive results in network growth, data innovation, customer experience, and fintech, especially mobile money.

Stephen Blewett went above and beyond to indicate a vigorous investment push supported by macroeconomic stability.

He said that stability offers security for long-term capital commitments, saying, “Any business wants a stable macro environment, and that’s what we got in 2025.”

“We will invest over $300 million this year in Ghana. That investment’s not going to pay off in one year. So as a CEO we need to know there’s a stable economic future.”

He also emphasised how network investment capacity is improved by exchange rate stability, stating that a stronger cedi enables the business to acquire more equipment for growth and quality enhancements.

The CEO presented a plan for 2026 that is based on customer-centric innovation, digital transformation, and a wider network rollout.

“We want to work on the network. We need to roll out more sites look at peri-urban areas and even rural areas,” he stated.

Additionally, the company intends to extend support for small enterprises in the digital economy and increase digital self-service alternatives via its MyMTN platform.

“I’m looking forward to a year of innovation… be leaders in driving innovation in Ghana, and making innovation something that benefits the lives of our customers,” Mr. Blewett said, summarising his vision.
