Following a severe traffic accident earlier this week that caused fear throughout Ga State and beyond, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, was released from the University of Ghana Medical Center.
Shortly after President John Dramani Mahama visited the hospital to check on the monarch’s health and offer his best wishes, he was discharged.
On the evening of Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Ga Mantse was returning to Accra on what palace officials described as an essential errand when it was involved in a terrible vehicle accident.
The collision happened in the Oti Region along the Pai-Katanga section of the Oti route.
The King’s convoy was travelling back from the Northern Region when the accident occurred, according to information from the Office of the Ga Mantse.
As part of initiatives to fortify relations and promote traditional unity between the Ga and Dagbon kingdoms, the Ya Naa had invited the visit.
No fatalities were reported in spite of the crash’s intensity.
Before being sent to Accra for more medical care, the King and his entourage received assistance at the site from Ghana Police Service officers and royal officials.
To determine the severity of any injuries received in the accident, the King and his assistants were subjected to a battery of medical tests upon arriving at the University of Ghana Medical Centre.
The palace verified that His Royal Majesty’s recuperation had been prompt and satisfactory in a statement signed by Amb. Sir S.J.K. Parker-Allotey, Chief of Protocol and Communications.
The Ga Mantse has already instructed his office to express sincere gratitude to the medical staff and emergency personnel who handled the issue.
Additionally, he conveyed his sincere appreciation to the public for the flood of prayers and good wishes that followed the disaster.
