Third batch of Ghanaian evacuees from South Africa arrive in Ghana.

The Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration, Honourable Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, and the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP), welcomed the third group of Ghanaians evacuated from the Republic of South Africa on June 7, 2026.

The others included Mr. Osman Ayariga, Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Mr. Albert Akuka Alalzuuga, Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Mrs. Yvone Nana Afriyie Opare, Group Executive, Finance of Ghana Airports Company Limited, Reverend Dr. John Okwesie Arthur, and other high-ranking government officials.

Honourable Nana Oye Bampoe Addo welcomed the evacuees and reassured them that the government will help them successfully reintegrate into society.

She said that a variety of social intervention strategies, such as job and skill-development opportunities through the National Apprenticeship Programme, had been implemented to help with their relocation.

She emphasised that extensive aid packages had been put in place to enable the evacuees’ transition and help them rebuild their lives in Ghana, and she reassured them of the government’s support.

She mentioned that in order to offer employment and chances for skill development, the National Youth Authority would assist interested evacuees in registering for the National Apprenticeship Program.

The evacuees would be enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and helped get Ghana Cards, according to additional information revealed by Hon. Bampoe Addo. She urged them to maintain their optimism.

The Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP), the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, expressed hope that South Africa will deepen its connections with the larger African community and urged people to maintain optimism about the future.

He encouraged them to concentrate on healing as they start a new chapter in Ghana, saying that forgiveness is crucial for healing.

He urged them to seize the chances in Ghana and apply the same tenacity, fortitude, and spirit of entrepreneurship they had shown overseas to their work there.

He assured them that the government was prepared to help them reintegrate and that they had been included to a database to make it easier for them to get chances and support.

He pointed out that a number of government agencies and businesses in the private sector were prepared to assist with their economic empowerment and relocation.

He highlighted the government’s dedication to the well-being of all Ghanaians, declared that the diaspora is Ghana’s “17th Region,” and recognised their important role in the country’s progress.

He reassured the evacuees that the government would continue to defend Ghanaians’ interests.

The refugees expressed gratitude to the government for making their relocation to Ghana possible and promised to strive toward fulfilling their national development quota.
