Kweku Osei Korankye Osei, also referred to as Koka, was charged with abusive conduct and making threats against a police officer and his family when he appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

On May 13, 2026, at the Regional Police Headquarters in Accra, 48-year-old politician Osei is accused of threatening Detective Chief Inspector David Anaba. He entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.

Osei was granted GH¢200,000 bail by the court, along with three sureties, all of which had to be supported by landed property. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 15, 2026.

The complainant, Detective Chief Inspector Anaba, works for the Regional Criminal Investigations Department in Accra, according to Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu, the prosecutor.

According to the prosecution, on May 13, 2026, Nana Boadi Amponim Obodadi reported a case involving an alleged death threat against Kennedy Ofori Anokye.

The complainant was then tasked with looking into the incident.

The prosecution claims that Anokye reported to the Regional CID Headquarters alongside Osei and a number of other people after the complainant asked him to help with investigations. One of the complainant’s coworkers identified Anokye.

According to the prosecution, the complainant saw group members filming and taking pictures of him on CID property without giving a reason.

The prosecution said that the complainant did not provide a suitable response when asked if they had authority from the Police Command to carry out such operations.

The court heard that Osei later gave the media an interview, which was then shared on a number of media outlets. “I will deal with you and your family,” the accused reportedly threatened the complainant and his family in the video with the intention of inciting fear and disturbing the peace.
