The Children’s Support Fund, established to help the children of the victims of the August 6, 2025 helicopter tragedy, has received contributions of GHS 10,150,495.00 and US$20,000.00.
The donations, made between October 17, 2025, and February 7, 2026, demonstrate widespread public and institutional support in the aftermath of the catastrophe, which killed eight people, including government officials and a pilot crew.
In a statement issued on Saturday, February 28, the government revealed that major contributors to the Fund include Ghana Reinsurance, the Ministry of Tourism, Vitol Ghana Services Limited, Kosmos Energy Ghana, the Ministry of the Interior, and staff from the President’s Office, among other individuals and professional groups.
The victims were travelling to a mining event in the Ashanti Region when the accident happened on August 6.
The crash claimed the lives of all eight passengers, including Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and Minister of Defence Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.
Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, NDC Vice-Chair Samuel Sarpong, and former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye were among the others.
Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited still accepts donations to the Children’s Support Fund; accounts are accessible in US dollars and Ghana cedis. CHILDREN SUPPORT FUND 6825 is the recipient of bank drafts and checks, and approved platforms also take mobile money donations.
In order to ensure that the victims’ legacy is carried on via care and education for their families, the Fund aims to offer long-term welfare and financial support for the children left behind.
