Ghana Culture Week 2026 has officially begun at the National Theatre, with a fresh demand to reposition culture as a crucial driver of tourism, national identity, and economic development.
During the inaugural ceremony, Honourable Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, stressed the need of strengthening cultural education, preserving indigenous customs, and creating new opportunities for youth through the creative arts sector.
The event is a part of the Taste 69@69 celebrations commemorating Ghana’s 69th anniversary of independence. Its subject is “Resetting Ghana’s Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Ecosystem.”
The two-day event includes exhibitions, policy discussions, cultural performances, and the Taste 69@69 Food Fair, which celebrates Ghana’s rich culinary legacy by displaying 69 Ghanaian specialities.
