The GCMC has received praise from the head of Parliament’s Energy Committee.

The Chairman of Parliament’s Energy Committee, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, has commended the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company (GCMC) for its efforts to revitalise operations and enhance performance.

Hon. Bedzrah discussed current efforts to retool the business and bring it back to full functioning during a working visit.

He states that GCMC has already started making progress, such as obtaining a contract to export goods to the West African market.

The corporation presently has an estimated 30 percent market share, he continued.

Mr. Bedzrah added that the Committee will make suggestions to the Ministry of Finance to expedite the financing support approval procedures.

The Committee’s ranking member, Hon. George Aboagye, emphasised the necessity of more funding for the industry, saying that growing businesses like GCMC are essential to reaching Ghana’s long-term energy security objectives.
