President John Dramani Mahama visited the industrial city of Brest on the second day of his state visit to Belarus in order to look at ways to improve Ghana’s agriculture industry.

The President visited one of the biggest agro-processing facilities in the nation while being greeted by Piotr Alexsandrovich Parkhomchik, the governor of Brest, and high-ranking representatives from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The plant’s cutting-edge dairy production technology, which produces baby food, milk, cheese, and milk powder for international markets, was the main focus of the visit.

President Mahama watched the many phases of their high-tech production with Joyce Bawah Mogtari, his advisor and special assistant, and Dr. Jehu-Appiah, Ghana’s ambassador to Moscow.

The president highlighted Ghana’s dedication to implementing cutting-edge processing methods in order to go from smallholder farming to large-scale commercial agriculture in his post-tour remarks.

“We are here to tap into Belarus’ vast experience as we work to make Ghana self-dependent in food production,” he said. Finding technical solutions to lower post-harvest losses, a significant problem for Ghanaian farmers, is one of the visit’s main objectives, he continued.

Aleksandr Savchits, the company’s managing director, disclosed that they made more than $1.4 billion in profit last year. Additionally, the company has started exporting dairy goods to Ghana, and as bilateral trade ties improve, it hopes to increase the volume of exports.

President Mahama invited Belarusian investors to collaborate with Ghanaian business associations, pointing out that both countries would gain.

When it comes to the export of dairy goods, such as cheese, butter, and milk powder, Belarus is currently a world leader.
