H.E. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, the president of Gabon, arrived in Accra on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, to begin a two-day official visit to the Republic of Ghana.

H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, greeted President Oligui Nguema upon his arrival at Accra International Airport.

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), the Minister of Foreign Affairs, other State Ministers, high-ranking government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and traditional and military authorities were also in attendance to greet the Gabonese leader.

The official visit highlights Ghana and Gabon’s long-standing friendly relations and demonstrates their mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of shared interest.

Additionally, it is anticipated that the visit will give the two heads of state a chance to have high-level talks about enhancing diplomatic, political, and economic ties while looking at new ways to work together to achieve sustainable development and regional integration.

President Oligui Nguema is anticipated to take part in several official activities during the visit, such as bilateral discussions with President Mahama and other events meant to strengthen the two sister republics’ long-standing friendship.

It is anticipated that the visit would strengthen the already strong ties between Ghana and Gabon and reaffirm both nations’ dedication to advancing prosperity, peace, stability, and economic cooperation on the African continent.

The Ghana Army erected a Guard of Honour in his honour.
