A teacher at Nyinahini Catholic Senior High School was taken into custody after a video of him reportedly abusing a female student on school went viral.
Daniel Fenyi, the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) public relations officer, confirmed the arrest in a Facebook post on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
“The Nyinahini Catholic SHS teacher seen in the viral video fighting a female student arrested! Regional education directorate is investigating the matter. Full report to be submitted to HQ,” Fenyi wrote.
A video that was extensively circulated on social media seemed to show the instructor physically approaching the boy while bystanders begged him to stop, which has caused public anxiety.
The female student was repeatedly hit by the teacher, who also once lifted her and hurled her to the ground, leaving her defenceless.
Witnesses can be heard pleading with the teacher to take into account that the pupil was a girl and to stop abusing her on the video.
But in response, the teacher, who was clearly upset, asked, “Is she aware she is a lady?”
Neither the Ghana Education Service nor school administrators have yet to reveal what caused the altercation.
According to GES, the regional education directorate has started looking into the event and is anticipated to send a comprehensive report to its headquarters.
The public’s demands for responsibility and the safety of kids at educational institutions are growing at the time of the arrest.
