Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, led a group of Ministers and ECOWAS leaders on an industrial visit of Kasapreko PLC, Ghana’s leading indigenous beverage manufacturer.

The visit was a component of ECOWAS’s continuous initiatives to boost intra-African trade, encourage regional industrialisation, and highlight prosperous manufacturing businesses in the West African subregion.

In order to obtain firsthand knowledge of Kasapreko’s manufacturing procedures, quality control systems, and export operations, the delegation—which included trade and industry ministers as well as a few representatives from ECOWAS member states—visited the company’s cutting-edge production facilities in Accra.

Mr. Richard Adjei, Managing Director of Kasapreko PLC, welcomed the delegation and emphasised the company’s development from a regional beverage manufacturer to a well-known brand with goods available in many African and other markets.

The company stated that it presently exports 20% of its products in the sub-region and highlighted its dedication to innovation, value addition, job development, and adherence to international production standards.

Speaking to the media following the tour, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare praised Kasapreko for its role in advancing locally produced goods outside of Ghana and for its support to the country’s industrial development program.

The Hon. Minister pointed out that businesses like Kasapreko show how African industry can successfully compete in regional and international markets with the correct policies and investment climate.

She went on to discuss some of the obstacles and difficulties that trade across ECOWAS borders faces, including the continued existence of non-tariff barriers that make it difficult for commodities and services to move freely within the region.

The Hon. Minister asserts that resolving these issues is still essential to maximising the advantages of regional integration and boosting the competitiveness of companies doing business throughout West Africa.

The size of activities and technological innovation seen during the tour were praised by the ECOWAS Commissioner delegation.

They emphasised the significance of creating alliances that might quicken the expansion of industry throughout West Africa and referred to Kasapreko as a paradigm for industrial development in the area.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), regional value chains, and ways to lower trade barriers among ECOWAS member states were among the topics of discussion during the visit.

Participants concurred that attaining sustainable industrial development and economic integration in the region would require increased cooperation between the public and private sectors.
