Ghana delivered an outstanding international merchandise trade performance in 2025, recording a trade surplus of GH¢148.3 billion (US$11.5 billion)—more than three times the surplus achieved in 2024.
According to the latest Annual International Merchandise Trade Statistics Report released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), the remarkable growth was largely driven by gold exports, increased international demand, and expanding trade partnerships with countries across global markets.
The report revealed that Ghana’s total merchandise trade value reached GH¢654.7 billion (US$52.5 billion) in 2025, highlighting the country’s strong export performance and growing role in international trade.
The impressive figures underscore the importance of gold exports, improved trade relations, and sustained economic activity in strengthening Ghana’s external trade balance and supporting overall economic growth.
