Three recent graduates of Hohoe E.P. Senior High School have been detained by the Volta North Regional Police Command on suspicion of participating in the destruction of school property, which was caught on camera and caused public indignation.

The Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service released a news release on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, stating that the accused, Rashid Suraj Dakpo, 19; Alhassan Mohammed, 20; and Abdul Kadri Abdulai, 20, were detained after school authorities made a formal complaint.

The event happened on Friday, June 19, 2026, just after the students finished their final exams and left for their homes, according to a statement written by Insp. Felix Kwao, the Volta North Region’s Public Relations Officer (PRO).

About five former students illegally destroyed the school’s water pipeline, according to school officials. The incident was captured on camera and extensively shared on social media.

According to the statement, “intelligence surveillance was deployed on the suspects,” indicating that three people were apprehended and turned over to the Regional Investigations Department for additional investigation and possible criminal prosecution.

The remaining suspects are still being sought after.

Students received a severe warning from the Volta North Regional Police Command, which described the behaviour as becoming more frequent.

The statement said, “Any student caught engaging in these acts will face the full rigours of the law.”

The Command also called on educators, parents, and guardians to step up their efforts to warn their children about the repercussions of such harmful behaviour.
