Eight public schools in the city received 997 school desks by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) in an effort to enhance instruction and foster a more pleasant learning environment for students.

The three sub-metros of the Assembly, Okaikoi South, Ashiedu Keteke, and Ablekuma South, are anticipated to profit from the desks, which were purchased under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and consist of mono, dual, and hexagonal desks.

Bubiashie, Kaneshie, Ussher, Ga Mashie, Ayalolo, Korle Gonno, Mamprobi, and Ojoo public schools are the recipients.

The distribution schedule states that Ussher, Ga Mashie, and Aayalolo schools under Ashiedu Keteke would receive 115, 125, and 92 desks, respectively; Bubiashie and Kaneshie schools under Okaikoi South will receive 166 desks apiece.

Additionally, Ablekuma South’s Korle Gonno, Mamprobi, and Ojoo schools will receive 115, 105, and 112 desks, respectively.

According to Hon. Allotey, the intervention will assist address the lack of furniture in the recipient institutions and give students a more pleasant and respectable setting in which to complete their academic work.

He said that a portion of the Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF) was being used for school renovations throughout the city, including roof repairs, furniture replacements, and upgrades to restrooms.

According to Hon. Allotey, the Assembly would keep a careful eye on how the desks and other objects were being utilised to make sure they were being used appropriately and for the intended objectives.

The MP for Odododiodio Constituency, Hon. Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie, thanked President Mahama for keeping his pledge to enhance learning environments in public schools and commended the calibre of the desks on behalf of Members of Parliament (MP) in the city.

In order to improve public service delivery, the Mayor also gave various medical equipment, office supplies, and environmental health logistics to the Metro Health Directorate, the Environmental Health Department, and its three sub-metros.
