Parliament’s Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has urged lawmakers to actively participate in the National General Cleaning Days, which are set for July 10 and 11, 2026, in areas damaged by flooding.

Speaking on the House floor, the Speaker said that the effort proposed by President John Dramani Mahama in response to the recent floods has the full support of Parliament.

He called on MPs to spearhead cleanup initiatives in their districts and encourage participation from local government agencies, community organisations, and citizens.

The Speaker also revealed that the leadership of Parliament would make plans to enable MPs from the impacted areas to conduct the exercise from their homes.

He emphasised that Parliament is still dedicated to backing policies that advance environmental sanitation, save lives, and increase the nation’s ability to withstand future calamities.
