Popular Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale’s highly anticipated Shattafest UK 2026 concert was brought to an abrupt end after UK police shut down the event following a stampede that reportedly left several attendees injured.
According to officials at the venue, the decision to cancel the music concert was made to protect public safety after the crowd incident escalated.
“There has been a serious accident involving a stampede, which resulted in multiple people sustaining injuries,” a police officer announced while addressing concert patrons. “For public safety reasons, the event cannot continue.”
The officer also acknowledged the disappointment of fans, many of whom had travelled significant distances and purchased tickets to attend the Shatta Wale live performance.
“We understand that many people made long journeys and spent money to be here,” he said, encouraging attendees to contact the event organisers regarding possible ticket refunds where applicable.
Authorities have not yet released official information on the number of injuries or the condition of those affected. Investigations into the cause of the concert stampede are expected to continue as officials assess the incident.
