A passenger has accused a conductor on an Ayalolo Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus of allegedly collecting transport fares below the approved rate without issuing official receipts, raising concerns over possible revenue leakages within the public transport system.
According to the passenger, the incident occurred aboard an Ayalolo BRT bus with registration number GS 1588-16, operating on the Circle–Pokuase route in Accra.
The passenger alleged that the conductor collected GH₵5 instead of the officially approved GH₵6 fare but failed to issue the mandatory receipt or ticket for the transaction.
The allegation has sparked concerns about compliance with public transport fare regulations, with the passenger warning that such practices could result in significant revenue losses if they continue unchecked.
The passenger has therefore called on the relevant transport authorities and management of the Ayalolo BRT service to investigate the matter and take appropriate action if the claims are substantiated.
The incident highlights the importance of transparency, accountability, and proper ticketing procedures in Ghana’s public transport sector to protect both passengers and public revenue while ensuring adherence to approved transport fare guidelines.
