The injured persons were transported to the Regional Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.

Police recovered six spent BB cartridges from the scene, which have been preserved as exhibits for forensic examination as part of the ongoing criminal investigation.

According to preliminary police findings, Ibrahim Osei came out of his room while the suspected robbers were escaping. He was reportedly shot and later died on arrival at the hospital.

Nine suspects arrested over Fiapre robbery

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspected criminals allegedly travelled on a cattle truck heading towards Berekum before getting off to carry out the robbery.

Following the incident, the Twumasikrom police checkpoint was alerted and instructed to intercept two vehicles transporting cattle.

The operation subsequently led to the arrest of nine suspects, who have been taken into police custody to assist with investigations.

The suspects are expected to be processed for prosecution once investigations are completed and sufficient evidence is established.

Police hunt remaining robbery suspects

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation, identification and autopsy.

The Bono Regional Police Command has assured residents of Fiapre, Sunyani and surrounding communities that efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other suspects believed to be at large.

Police said they remain committed to bringing all persons linked to the Fiapre robbery and murder incident before the law.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about armed robbery, mobile money crime and public safety in Ghana, particularly the security risks faced by MoMo vendors who handle large amounts of cash.
