Two persons are battling gun wounds after being shot by armed robbers in Mankrong Nkwanta, Agona East District, Central Region.
The victims include a man who was shot in the leg at close range in his home and a mobile money vendor who was shot from a distance and had an unknown quantity of money taken from him by the thieves.
Jonathan Assan, a neighbourhood member, claims that the robbery event happened on Sunday, July 26, at around 7 p.m., when the thieves started firing intermittently at a local filling station.
Additionally, the thieves fled with an undisclosed sum of money from another local mobile money retailer.
The thieves later returned to block the Mankrong Nkwanta Bawjiase highway and robbed occupants of multiple vehicles at gunpoint, despite the fact that Mankrong Nkwanta police responded to the incident but were unable to locate or capture them.
“Even though we called for reinforcement from Swedru, we had no assistance,” Assan said to Citi News.
He stated that after spending more than thirty minutes on the roadway, the robbers departed the area.
Both of the robbery victims are receiving treatment right now.
Residents in Mankrong Nkwanta are terrified of the development and are pleading for police capacity enhancement.
