The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has been named PR Organisation of the Year 2025 in the Public Sector Category at the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana (IPR Ghana) Excellence Awards.

The award recognises the Authority’s commitment to professional public relations, strategic communication and effective engagement with taxpayers, the media and other stakeholders.

The award was presented during the 2026 National PR Summit, held in Koforidua from October 22 to 24. The three-day event brought together public relations professionals and industry stakeholders for conferences, research presentations, the Institute’s Annual General Meeting and the Excellence Awards.

GRA Recognised for Strategic Communication

As a corporate member of IPR Ghana, the GRA considers professional communication an important tool for improving public understanding of its policies, programmes and operations.

The Authority’s Communication and Public Affairs (CPA) Department plays a key role in promoting tax education, encouraging voluntary tax compliance and building public confidence in the institution.

Several staff members of the department are also active members of IPR Ghana, reflecting the Authority’s commitment to professional development and modern public relations practices.

The recognition highlights the importance of investing in communication experts who can strengthen stakeholder relationships and improve public awareness of tax obligations in Ghana.

GRA Highlights Importance of Public Relations

Commenting on the achievement, Deputy Commissioner of Communication and Public Affairs, Mrs. Florence Asante, said public relations goes beyond publicity and serves as a strategic management function.

She explained that effective communication helps build trust, strengthen stakeholder relationships and support organisational objectives.

According to her, the award reinforces the need to develop communication professionals and ensure their expertise contributes to management decisions.

Through public education campaigns, media relations and stakeholder engagement, the GRA’s CPA Department continues to promote tax awareness and encourage taxpayers to meet their obligations.

Award Highlights GRA’s Commitment to Tax Education

The recognition also demonstrates the growing importance of professional communication in public institutions.

For the GRA, effective public relations involves more than sharing information. It helps taxpayers understand their responsibilities and appreciate how tax revenue supports Ghana’s national development.

The award therefore represents recognition of the Authority’s efforts to improve public engagement, promote voluntary tax compliance and strengthen confidence in Ghana’s revenue administration system.
