President John Dramani Mahama has officially commissioned the Northshore Apparel Hub in Savelugu, in Ghana’s Northern Region, as part of the government’s ambitious 24-Hour Economy initiative.
The modern garment manufacturing facility is expected to play a major role in promoting local manufacturing, job creation and industrial development while opening up new economic opportunities for residents of the Northern Region.
The establishment of the Northshore Apparel Hub is also expected to strengthen Ghana’s textile and apparel industry by increasing domestic production and supporting the growth of businesses operating within the manufacturing sector.
Northshore Apparel Hub to Create Jobs
The new facility is positioned to contribute to Ghana’s economic development by creating employment opportunities, particularly for young people, while supporting skills development and expanding opportunities within the garment and textile value chain.
The government’s 24-Hour Economy programme seeks to promote increased economic activity and production beyond traditional working hours, with a focus on boosting manufacturing, exports, private-sector investment and job creation.

Key Officials Attend Savelugu Facility Opening
The commissioning ceremony brought together several government officials and international representatives.
Among those present were the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and the German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Frederik Landshöft.
Also in attendance were the Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy Initiative, Goosie Tanoh, and the Chief Executive of the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM), Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah.
Their participation highlights the importance attached to the facility as part of Ghana’s broader strategy to promote industrialisation, trade, manufacturing and export growth.
Sustainable Manufacturing and Zero-Waste Production
The Northshore Apparel Hub has also incorporated sustainable manufacturing and zero-waste production practices into its operations.
