The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has described a confrontation involving individuals he identified as officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) at the Accra High Court as an alleged attempted kidnapping.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, after the MP appeared at the Accra High Court as a lawyer representing Salomey Baffoe, who is facing charges connected to the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
The reported confrontation is believed to be linked to claims that Nana Baffour Awuah had failed to honour invitations from EOCO to assist with an ongoing investigation.
Nana Baffour Awuah Explains EOCO Encounter
Speaking to journalists at Parliament, the Manhyia South MP said a woman approached him after the court proceedings and informed him that he was required at the EOCO office.
According to the lawmaker, the woman also claimed that he had previously been invited by the anti-organised crime agency.
Nana Baffour Awuah said he asked the woman to identify herself and provide evidence of the alleged invitation. He claimed, however, that she was unable to adequately establish her authority or convince him that he was legally required to accompany her.
The MP said the circumstances raised concerns for his personal safety, prompting him to leave the area.

MP Says He Feared for His Safety
Nana Baffour Awuah told journalists that he believed the situation posed a threat to his safety and that he decided to protect himself and proceed to Parliament.
“It became obvious to me that it was one of the recent kidnappings that have been going on which is sponsored by the state and so at that point I needed to defend and protect myself for the benefit of the good people of Manhyia South who I serve, the Minority Caucus, my children and my whole family. I run from an attempted kidnap. She attempted to kidnap me whilst I was on my way to Parliament,” he said.
His account comes amid an ongoing investigation involving the Ghana Jollof TikTok case and follows an earlier explanation from EOCO concerning its reported attempt to secure the MP’s attendance.
