NPP activist KOKA has denied claims that the Aagbe Wɔ Demo is a protest organised or led by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), insisting that many participants are residents of communities affected by recent demolitions.
KOKA explained that the demonstration reflects the concerns of people whose homes, livelihoods and communities have been affected by the demolitions, rather than a political campaign led by the opposition party.
He questioned why companies operating on Ga land were allegedly failing to provide employment opportunities for local residents or invest adequately in their communities.
“This is Ga land, yet companies are not employing their people or investing in their land, and the government is supporting an entity to take away where the young ones are,” he stated.
The NPP activist’s comments have added to public discussions surrounding the Aagbe Wɔ Demo, land demolitions in Accra, indigenous land rights and employment opportunities for the Ga-Dangme people.
The demonstration, organised under the slogan “La Amane Hu Abuuu Gã,” has drawn attention to demands for justice, the protection of local communities and respect for the rights and heritage of the Ga-Dangme people.
