The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has commissioned a new office at Weija in the Greater Accra Region to improve service delivery, reduce overcrowding, and make driver and vehicle licensing services more accessible to the public.
The facility was officially commissioned by the Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, as part of the government’s efforts to modernise transport services and improve the efficiency of public institutions in Ghana.
New DVLA Weija Office to Reduce Overcrowding
The newly commissioned DVLA office replaces the previous facility, which had become too small to accommodate the increasing number of clients seeking driver licensing and vehicle registration services.
The inadequate space had resulted in overcrowding and inconvenience for customers, making it necessary to establish a more suitable facility to meet growing public demand.
The new office is expected to improve the customer experience by providing a better environment for accessing essential DVLA services.

Transport Minister Commends DVLA Modernisation Efforts
During the commissioning ceremony, Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe praised the DVLA management and staff for their commitment to improving operations through technology, infrastructure development, and more efficient service delivery.
He reaffirmed the Ministry of Transport’s commitment to supporting reforms that strengthen road safety, promote accountability, and improve law enforcement within Ghana’s transport sector.
The Minister noted that modernising the DVLA’s operations was important to ensuring efficient public service delivery and enhancing the authority’s ability to meet the needs of motorists and vehicle owners.

DVLA Staff Urged to Improve Customer Service
Hon. Nikpe urged staff at the new Weija office to demonstrate courtesy, integrity, and professionalism when dealing with clients.
He stressed the importance of treating customers respectfully and ensuring that the public receives efficient, reliable, and convenient services.
The commissioning of the new DVLA office forms part of broader efforts to improve access to driver licensing, vehicle registration, and other transport-related services in Ghana.
The development is expected to ease pressure on the previous facility while supporting the DVLA’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, and promote road safety across the country.
