At the 2021 Northern Region Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards, Media General’s Northern Region correspondent Christopher Amoako won the Best Education Reporter category.
He was one of six nominees honored for their contributions to the region’s growth.
His journalism over the years has contributed to highlighting the significant issues affecting education in Ghana’s northern region.
The other journalists who received awards were: Comfort Sena Fetiri, Best Road Safety Reporter, Ghana News Agency; Prince Kwame Tamakloe, Best Health Reporter, Rainbow Radio International; Mohammed Alabira, Citi FM/TV; and Joyce Kankam Kolamong, Best Water and Sanitation Award.
The Savannah, Northern, and North East regions also received citations honoring three additional radio and one television station. Best Radio Station was awarded to Nobya FM in the North East Region, Best in Current Affairs went to Neesim FM in Tamale, Best Radio Station Online News Portal went to Nkilgi FM in Bole, and Best Community Program went to Sagani TV in Tamale.
Mohammed Fugu of the Daily Graphic was named the Best Journalist of the Year for 2021.
‘Promoting Tourism and Culture to Create Jobs: The Role of the Media’ was the theme of this year’s GJA Awards (Northern, North East, and Savannah Regions).
Politicians, traditional leaders, development experts, journalists, and other media professionals from the three areas were all present.
