Justice will be done, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Godfred Yeboah Dame, has told Menzgold fraud victims. He acknowledged the tragic effects of the fraud, which included destroyed homes and, occasionally, fatalities.

As the keynote speaker at the “Fortieth Cambridge International Symposium On Economic Crime,” Mr. Dame stressed that although the victims’ carelessness and greed contributed to their circumstances, the government is dedicated to seeing that they are given justice.

He emphasized the hardship and suffering brought on by many households, which nearly sparked a social catastrophe marked by protests and demonstrations across the nation.

Due to the Menzgold saga, some people lost their homes, and marriages even broke up.

According to Mr. Dame, criminal charges against the offenders have begun following thorough investigations, providing hope that the victims will eventually receive justice.

Notably, the Attorney General recently filed new charges against Nana Appiah Mensah, the CEO of the defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, including counts for aiding and abetting, defrauding by false pretenses, operating a deposit-taking business without a license, illegal deposit-taking, and money laundering. On September 19, 2023, a court hearing for these allegations is set.

This happened as a result of Mr. Appiah Mensah’s declaration that he would be releasing locked-up monies to Menzgold customers in exchange for a verification fee of roughly GH650.

He later changed his mind, though, as a result of a tremendous outcry from the public.

In conclusion, the Attorney-General promised Menzgold victims that justice would be done, and criminal investigations against the con artists had already commenced.
