Beginning on Monday, yesterday, September 4, 2023, payments for recipients of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Program will be made, according to a statement from the Ministry of Gender, Child, and Social Protection (MoGCSP).

The LEAP program is intended to give cash transfers to people who are extremely poor, with the main objective of reducing poverty by raising and stabilizing such people’s consumption levels and expanding their access to necessary resources and opportunities.

The Ministry announced that the program’s 85th and 86th cycles will be distributed to recipients concurrently in a formal press release.

“The Ministry hereby notifies beneficiary households of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme and all concerned stakeholders nationwide that the bimonthly disbursement of cash grants for the 85th and 86th cycles will commence on September 4, 2023,” the announcement reads.

These two cycles will be distributed to qualified homes jointly.

Households with a single qualified member will get GHc256.00 as a result of this joint payment. GHc304.00 will be given to households with two eligible members, and GHc352.00 will be given to households with three eligible members.

Four or more qualified members of a household can get GH424.00.

This initiative is a component of the government’s commitment to combating extreme poverty and giving the most vulnerable members of society essential help.
