Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the opposition National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) director of elections and information technology, has denied rumors that he serves on the board of the Accra-based Afrah International Hospital.

This is in response to charges that he had given the current Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, a payroll contract while serving as a board member of the Afrah International Hospital.

I’ve never served as a Board Member and was never practitioner in charge at Afrah International Hospital, the man responded to the claim in a post on his Facebook.

”It is vital to stress that I have never served as a Board Member or a Practitioner in-charge at Afrah International Hospital,” he said. The Registrar General’s Department and the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency, the official repositories of such information, can both verify that fact.

”For the avoidance of any doubt let me say that I am neither a partner nor a stakeholder of the hospital,” the former Minister for Communications said.

It is known to the general public that I have only worked as a part-time physician at the Afrah International Hospital. Anyone who questions this information is welcome to inquire about the accuracy with the aforementioned regulatory organizations.

We must realize that sickness does not discriminate against people based on their political views. It is unaware of NDC or NPP. I thus implore everyone to desist from casting doubt on medical professionals’ and their practice’s, professional integrity,” he said.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist continued, “I remain a loyal activist whose dedication to HE John Dramani Mahama is abundantly obvious.”

Let me be crystal clear: Bryan Acheampong was never given a payroll contract by me. Payroll is not under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Communications. How was it possible for me to approve such a deal? Before leaving the office, Okudzeto, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, and I returned our official vehicles. We didn’t even consider purchasing them, the statement continued.
