The outage is anticipated to occur between Sunday, September 24, and Thursday, September 28, 2023 in the following regions: Gbetsile, Afienya, Zenu, Prampram, Mataheko, Katamanso, Dawhenya, Sakumono, Batsonaa, Klagon, Tema Township, Adjei Kojo, Borteyman, Santeo, and neighboring places.
The firm will stop providing water to its customers in the areas that the Kpong Treatment Plant serves as part of work to repair the main transmission pipeline from the Kpong Treatment Plant to the eastern portion of Accra, according to a news release from GWCL.
The main 42-inch transmission pipeline, according to the GWCL, was weak and frequently gave way as a result of the large volumes and pressure in the pipeline, causing the company to lose a lot of water and money.
“The work involved in changing the pipeline is capital intensive, therefore, Management has resolved to change the weak portions of the line to reduce cost and to maintain the integrity of the transmission pipeline. This repair work will also reduce the inconvenience of frequent interruption of supply to customers and to ensure a long-term reliability of water supply.” Statement said
