Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor (SP) for Ghana, has met with representatives from the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ) at their Washington, D.C., headquarters.

Mr. Agyebeng claimed that the objective of his visit to the FBI was to learn more about their organizational setup, daily activities, and best practices in order to improve teamwork and capacity building.

Jason Beachy, the acting assistant director of the FBI’s international operations division, and a number of other unit commanders attended the meeting with the special prosecutor.

The Deputy Assistant Attorney General Arun G. Rao and the Deputy Director of the Consumer Protection Branch (CPB) of the Justice Department’s Civil Division received the SP at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

On October 11, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) revealed that the FBI in the United States had opened investigations into the actions of Cecilia Abena Dapaah, a former minister of sanitation, and her friends.

According to a statement by the OSP on ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, “These investigations primarily focus on examining their assets and financial transactions within the United States of America.”

The OSP states that a joint effort is being made to determine whether Ms. Dapaah and her companions’ wealth is legal “both in the context of their funds transitioning from Ghana to the United States and vice versa.”
