A confrontation at a galamsey location at Subriso Nfante in the Ahafo Ano North of the Ashanti region resulted in the shooting deaths of two people and the injuries of several more.

An eyewitness claimed that a squad of forestry guards engaged in combat with security officers at the galamsey site after arriving in eight (8) pickup trucks.

A misunderstanding that resulted in the shooting of two security guards and the injuries of numerous more occurred during an attempt to stop the illegal miners from digging.

Although the exact cause of the shooting is unknown, the eyewitness claims that the Tepa police divisional police command is handling the matter in an effort to determine its cause.

Nonetheless, the corpses have been taken to the government hospital in Tepa for preservation and an autopsy.
