On December 18, 2023, at the Conference Hall of the House in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, acknowledged the significant contributions made by traditional leaders in a variety of roles to the development of the country.
He said this during the end of year general meeting of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs.
The importance of traditional leadership in Ghanaian culture was underlined by Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong. He explained that traditional leadership promotes development, security, and peace at the district and community levels, which in turn advances national development.
In order to prepare traditional leaders to handle the challenges of traditional governance, he emphasized the significance of training and capacity building.
The minister listed conventional leadership concerns, land administration, dispute resolution, and records and paperwork management as important training areas.
In an address to the House, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong called for greater efforts to settle chieftaincy disputes, stressing that doing so would open the door to more development in the area.
The Eastern Regional House of Chiefs’ President, Nene Sackitey II, of the Krobo Traditional Area, congratulated the House on its joint success in carrying out its administrative duties.
In order to do more in the next years, he urged Chiefs to remain united and to continue their commitment to aiding in the development of the area.
At the end of the Eastern Region’s general meeting, which was attended by all of the Chiefs and Queen Mothers, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong gave the Chiefs gifts as a way of saying “Happy Christmas.”
