On Monday, March 25, two buddies went swimming in the river with the dead, Nana Kwame.
An eyewitness, Agya Sei, described the terrifying series of events that transpired. He claimed that a worried neighbor called to inform him of the catastrophe that was taking place.
The eyewitness went on to say that when he arrived at the site, he saw the victim fighting to escape but ultimately drowning because of the river’s current.
His friends panicked and ran away from the victim as he struggled with the dangerous waters, leaving him to face his danger on his own.
Despite the community’s heroic efforts to save him, Nana Kwame’s fate was sealed in a tragic turn of events due to the river’s unrelenting hold.
His two buddies watched in horror as the deceased fought to swim out of the river, then ran in terror, leaving the victim to cry for assistance.
Despite the efforts of the community members to save him from the river, they were unable, which led to his untimely death.
The mother of the dead, Madam Janet Boakye, also known as Sister Yaa, lost control of herself during a phone conversation with Silver FM. She claimed that although her son had told her he was heading to Kokoben, she had not learned until much later that he had drowned.
The circumstances surrounding the tragedy are being investigated by the authorities.
