Nine people have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service nationwide for fabricating claims that their male appendage vanished in public.

They are charged with inciting terror and panic that resulted in assaults on defenseless bystanders.

Medical examinations and police investigations proved the falsehood of every accusation.

In the Central Region’s Kasoa, two in the Greater Accra Region’s Ashaiman, and one in the Eastern Region’s Nkawkaw, six individuals were taken into custody.

Three of them have been remanded into police custody, while five have been charged.

While the remaining are on police inquiry bail awaiting arraignment, two have been granted bail.

In recent weeks, there have been increasing reports nationwide of missing phalli.

The allegations first surfaced in Kasoa, where several of the purported victims stated that after running across strangers in the area, their member vanished.

Amateur recordings of the alleged criminals being flogged and nearly lynched have been all over social media.
