The third cohort of trainees at the National Aquaculture Center and Commercial Farms graduated yesterday at Amrahia in the Adenta Municipality of the Gt. Accra Region.

The centre forms part of government effort to promote aquaculture as a viable economic enterprise through the provision of appropriate skills training to the youth using cutting-edge technologies.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson in a speech read on her behalf by the Technical Advisor, Mr. Samuel Quartey said the Ministry has revised the entry requirement for admission to the center which is a diploma in any field from an accredited institution.

According to her, this change enables individuals interested in pursuing a career in aquaculture production be admitted to the Centre.

Since the inception of the training programme, a total of seventy-two (72) students comprising forty-six (46) males and twenty-six (26) females have been trained in advanced fish farming using scientific methods.

Students who excelled in various areas were given awards.
