A horrific accident on the Mim-Goaso Highway in the Ahafo Region resulted in 32 injuries and 10 confirmed deaths.

According to the Ghanaian Times, the accident occurred as the bus driver tried to pass a timber truck and instead collided with another truck.

According to the sources, two victims passed away while being taken to the Goaso Government Hospital for treatment, while eight people perished there and then.

Eight persons were killed on the spot and 32 were injured when a timber truck without a registration number collided with a bus carrying fifty workers from Infixwood Processing Company in Mim on Friday at around five in the morning, according to an eyewitness testimony. The bus had the registration number AC775-24.

The eyewitness stated that the dense smoke the timber truck was spewing caused the bus driver’s vision to become impaired, causing him to veer into the truck as he tried to pass it.

Vera Fabia Annor, the Goaso Government Hospital’s emergency nursing specialist, confirmed the claim to Ghanaian Times when reached.

She claimed that while the other accident victims were responding to treatment, two of them passed away while being transported.

Five of the casualties, she claimed, were taken to Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and were in critical condition.

The ten individuals, all of whom were men, have had their bodies placed in the hospital’s mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
