A spate of departures from the Black Stars squad has severely hurt Ghana’s chances of making it to AFCON 2025.
For a variety of reasons, eight players have withdrew from the forthcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Among them are:
• Inaki Williams: Hamstring injury
• Tariq Lamptey: Calf discomfort
• Jonas Adjetey: Injury setback
• Jerome Opoku: Chronic back pain
• Antoine Semenyo: Patella tendon injury
• Alexander Djiku: Hamstring injury
• Ibrahim Osman: Hamstring injury
• Joseph Painstil: Personal reasons
The players listed above have been replaced by Osman Bukari (Austin FC), Ransford Yeboah Koningsdorffer (Hamburger SV), Forson Amankwah (Norwich City), Terry Yegbe (IF Elfsborg), Ebenezer Annan (OFK Beograd), and Kingsley Schindler (Samsunspor), according to a statement released by the Ghana Football Association on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Ghana needs to defeat Angola and Niger and hope Sudan loses their last games in order to go to the Morocco 2025 tournament.
Before finishing the qualifiers at home against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18, Ghana will play Angola in Luanda on Friday, November 15.
