The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has warned the public about fake documents circulating on social media and other online platforms that purport to award funding under an alleged Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2026.
The Ministry announced in a press statement on Friday that it had discovered forged documents with the titles “Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2026 Application Form” and “Conditional Approval of your application for the Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative (2026).”
The documents make the false assertion that MoFA is inviting the public to apply for funding to small and medium-sized agricultural businesses.
According to the Ministry, the documents send applicants to contacts, websites, and email addresses that are not affiliated with MoFA.
It declared that there is no such grant program and characterised the circulating documents as a fraud intended to trick gullible people.
It emphasised that no person, committee, or organization has the authority to accept applications, handle grants, ask for accreditation fees, or gather personal data on behalf of the Ministry via the channels being advertised.
The Ministry stated that in order to look into the situation and make sure the guilty are held accountable, it is collaborating with the appropriate security agencies.
It recommended people to confirm information about the Ministry through its Public Relations Unit or formal communication channels before acting, and it cautioned the public not to reply to any requests connected to the alleged grant scheme.
Additionally, MoFA expressed gratitude to the public for their assistance in preventing fraud and shielding individuals from being victims of scams.
