The Eastern and Western Regions’ special vote will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024, as planned, according to confirmation from the Electoral Commission (EC).
Voters in these areas were reassured by the EC in a circular issued on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, that all required steps had been done to resolve previous issues.
This announcement comes after special voting in the two regions was canceled on Monday, December 2, 2024, because of ballot paper flaws. The EC declared that the matter was settled and conveyed confidence in carrying out a seamless voting procedure.
The purpose of the special voting exercise is to provide election officials, media professionals, and security personnel a chance to cast ballots before the main elections on December 7.
