Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged people to follow emergency orders and assist ongoing response operations while expressing compassion for the victims of the flooding that has affected areas of the nation.

On Monday, June 29, 2026, Dr. Bawumia posted on Facebook that thousands of individuals affected by the floods, which had displaced households and damaged property, were in his prayers.

“This morning, my thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of our people affected by the floods,” he said. “My deepest sympathies to those who have lost their loved ones, properties, and those who have been forced out of their homes.”

As emergency activities continue in all affected areas, he urged the public to assist the authorities.

“I urge citizens to comply with all directives issued by the Government and to cooperate fully with institutions mandated to address the situation,” he stated.

In order to reach impacted communities, Dr. Bawumia also urged emergency services and pertinent state agencies to step up their response efforts.

He said, “I also urge the emergency services and all relevant authorities to do everything possible to reach those in need and assist them.”

In order to navigate the situation, he continued, national unity and compassion were crucial.

“We will get through this difficult time by caring for one another,” he declared.
