The Accra High Court has adjourned judgement in the Samreboi mining lawsuit involving Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, until July 20, 2026.

The ruling comes after Samuel Atta Akyea, the recently hired attorney representing Chairman Wontumi and Akonta Mining Company Limited, requested more time to submit written arguments on behalf of his clients.

The application, which was filed under the court’s inherent jurisdiction, asked for the judgement to be postponed so that new solicitors could obtain and examine the certified record of proceedings and all processes filed in the case before preparing what the application described as credible and competent written submissions.

The application was approved by the court, which postponed the proceedings and set a new judgement date of July 20, 2026.

The first and third defendants, Bernard Antwi Boasiako and Akonta Mining Company Limited, filed the application.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Kwame Antwi, and Akonta Mining Company Limited are the accused parties in this action, and the Republic is the respondent.

According to court documents, the motion was submitted on June 23, 2026, and it was served to the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Criminal Division, and the High Court Registrar.

Before the court approved the request for a postponement, the case’s judgement was initially set for July 3, 2026.
