The office of John Mahama, the president-elect of Ghana, has rejected a social media list purporting to identify the appointments for his new government.
The list is “false and unauthorised,” according to a statement issued by Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Mahama’s Special Aide, on Monday, December 16, 2024.
She stressed that the public should only believe official statements from Mahama’s office and asked them to disregard it.
The agency explained that no more appointments have been made public, even though a 10-member Transition Team has been formally designated to supervise the power transfer.
Dr. Valerie Sawyer and Johnson Asiedu Nketia are important members of the team, which is headed by Julius Debrah.
In accordance with Ghana’s Presidential (transfer) Act, their responsibility is to provide a seamless and well-organized transfer.
The public is urged to depend only on confirmed updates from the president-elect’s office in order to stop the spread of misleading information.
