President John Dramani Mahama has firmly promised that his administration will combat corruption regardless of the guilty party.
During Sunday’s Christian National Thanksgiving Service in Accra, President Mahama promised the clergy that he will run a responsible, transparent government that prioritizes justice and equity.
“We’ll strengthen the fight against corruption relentlessly, knowing that it undermines the very fabric of our society,” he stated.
“Any persons who find themselves appointed to public office has to be made aware that they would be held to the highest ethical and professional standards.”
According to the President, the new government would set a fresh direction for the Ghanaians to develop.
He urged that his inauguration as president be viewed as a turning point for Ghana and promised the “Men of God” that he would serve as president for everyone, regardless of political, ethnic, or religious affiliation.
“So all those of you plying me with your CVs must know that it is not going to be an easy job. It is not going to be business as usual.
“We’ll govern with the understanding that we are stewards of the resources and the trust that is bestowed upon us by the sovereign people of Ghana,” he said.
“I stand here today as president to all of you, regardless of your political, ethnic or religious affiliation. This is a moment for Ghana, the moment for unity, the moment to put aside differences and work together for the greater good of our dear nation,” he remarked.
President Mahama asserted that unity was essential to the nation’s development and not only a value to which it should strive.
“We can only move forward as a nation if we stand together, shoulder to shoulder and embrace the common goal of building a prosperous and inclusive Ghana.” he added.
He asserted that the reset program, which is based on giving everyone opportunity and reviving optimism, was already in motion.
According to him, the government would prioritize health care and increase access to high-quality medical care in order to address the issues of unemployment. It would also invest in entrepreneurship, vocational training, and value chain growth in industry and agriculture.
In the field of education, the president stated that the emphasis would be on expanding student access to technology, enhancing infrastructure, and giving teachers resources.
Towards the attainment of the above, a national education review conference to dialogue on the challenges facing various levels of the educational system to forge a consensus on the way forward to achieve quality education would soon be convened, the President announced
Prayers were held during the ceremony for the President and his family as well as government officials to comprehend the administration’s vision.
