A challenge filed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) contesting a High Court decision that ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to finish and announce the results of parliamentary elections in four constituencies has been postponed indefinitely by the Supreme Court.
On January 4, 2025, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) filed an application, and the High Court, presided over by Justice Forson Baah Agyapong, issued a decree directing the EC to complete the results collation in the Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North seats.
The EC reviewed the results for Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, and Techiman South constituencies after the decision.
Results for Ablekuma North, however, have not yet been finalized.
The NDC asked the Supreme Court to reverse the ruling of the High Court. The party wants the decision overturned, claiming it raised legal issues with the electoral process.
It was discovered during today’s court appearance that the NDC had neglected to serve the NPP candidates involved in the case.
In order to give the parties time to be served, the Apex court has decided to postpone the matter indefinitely, or Sine die.
