Dzifa Abla Gomashie, Ghana’s Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, has revealed her strategies for resolving the issues confronting Mole National Park and other significant historical sites.
The Ketu South Member of Parliament highlighted the unrealized potential of Mole National Park during her vetting on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, drawing comparisons to internationally recognized wildlife parks in Kenya and Uganda.
“Mole is the only place in Ghana where you find animals similar to those in East Africa, yet it has been neglected in terms of development and investment,” she emphasised. “Few people even know about the beautiful Paris Waterfalls within the park,”
The significance of the Salaga Slave Market, which is a few kilometers from the park, was also emphasized by Abla Gomashie.
According to her, it is an important historical place that merits more funding and attention.
She intends to work with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to promote regional tourism investment in order to address these issues.
“Tourism development should begin at the local level. The ministry has agencies that can assist assemblies to harness their tourism potential,” she stated.
The nominee pointed out that although Mole National Park has long been a well-liked vacation spot, more investment is needed to fully realize its potential.
She promised to advocate for more funding and collaborate with local government officials to advance and grow tourism in the area.
Abla Gomashie’s goal is to make Mole National Park and other locations important drivers of Ghana’s tourism industry, generating employment and stimulating the country’s economy.
