A request for an out-of-court settlement in a defamation action brought against Charles Nii Armah Mensah, commonly known as Shatta Wale, by Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, also known as Bulldog, has been granted.
Shatta Wale, a dancehall musician, was sued by artist manager Bulldog for allegedly defaming him.
Bulldog, the plaintiff, is seeking damages for what he claims to be defamation as well as the same for the defendant’s allegedly deliberate publishing of false information about him.
“The series of publication that the Defendant has made and continues to make about the Plaintiff are actuated by plain malice,” the writ filed by Bulldog’s Lawyer, Justice Srem-Sai said.

Plaintiff’s attorneys, lead by Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, informed the court in court on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, that the parties have begun settlement negotiations and will need a month’s adjournment.
They were unable to submit written arguments in accordance with the court’s directions because of this, he claimed.
“We wish to pray for one more adjournment to attempt settlement and depending on the outcome we may apply formally for extension of time to file our witness statement,” Dr Justice Srem-Sai told the court.
After hearing from the parties, Judge Joseph Adu Agyemang Owusu, who is in charge of the Accra High Court’s General Jurisdiction 13 encouraged them to resolve the dispute outside of court.
According to EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, Shatta Wale and Bulldog were present and were photographed enjoying a nice talk.
The case has been adjourned to April 18, 2023.
