Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has come under heavy fire from Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, who claims that he has been spreading lies about allegedly suspicious planes landing at Kotoka International Airport.

When Rev. Fordjour demanded an urgent briefing on the cargo contents of two aircraft, a Cavok Air Antonov An-12 B and AirMed Flight N823AM, Kwakye Ofosu accused him of purposefully misrepresenting the public.

According to Rev. Fordjour, these aircraft might have been utilized to smuggle enormous quantities of cash and cocaine into the nation.

“I can report to you that because he knew he was peddling total falsehoods and lies, he now claims after being invited to assist with investigations that he was speaking on behalf of the committee that he was part of, and that the views he expressed were not his personal views,” Mr Ofosu said.

In response to these accusations, the authorities asked Rev. Fordjour to help with their investigations.

In order to maintain transparency, President John Dramani Mahama also mandated a thorough investigation into the allegations.

Minister Kwakye Ofosu, however, denied the accusations, calling them unfounded and a calculated effort to erode public confidence in government functions.

“I can report to you that because he knew he was peddling total falsehoods and lies, he now claims after being invited to assist with investigations that he was speaking on behalf of the committee that he was part of, and that the views he expressed were not his personal views,” Mr Ofosu said.

He characterized Rev. Fordjour’s conduct as careless and devoid of reliable proof.

Minister Kwakye Ofosu told the public that the government is still dedicated to maintaining the integrity of airport operations and national security, and he asked them to ignore such baseless allegations.

“I say that he was peddling falsehood because the facts as they exist vary completely from the claims that he made. When he made that claim, he was only seeking to peddle falsehood in a bid to undermine the confidence that the people of Ghana have in this government,” he added.
